Founded in 1994 in London UK, Moyo wa Taifa, Pan Afrikan Women’s Solidarity Network is an activist, advocacy and solidarity organisation.

Translated from ki-Swahili, Moyo wa Taifa means “heart of the nation” reflecting our conviction on the central role of women in the development of all human enterprise.

Established to connect the historical and contemporary struggles of Afrikan women on the Continent and in the Diaspora, Moyo wa Taifa locates the struggle for women’s emancipation within the context of our people’s aspiration for total transformation.

Our struggle for emancipation (as women) and for liberation (as a people) is also a struggle against the global exploitation of our labour (as workers) and the plunder of our resources (as Afrikans).

Moyo wa Taifa is dedicated to the mobilization of a mass movement united in struggle for the full social, political, cultural and economic rights of Afrikans within the framework of a sovereign United States of Afrika, including her Diaspora.

Cognisant of the need to locate our work within the context of our historical experiences as Afrikans wherever we may find ourselves, on the Continent or in the Diaspora and whether we are from the Continent or the Diaspora, Moyo wa Taifa is an autonomous people’s empowerment organisation (PEO) which organises to:
